Victoria

Victoria is a very picturesque city in British Columbia, situated in Canadas most western province. The city lies on the southern point of Vancouver Island, only 2 1/2 hours away from Vancouver with the bus, or ferry, or 20 minutes away with the water plane.
The population of Victoria is approx. 330'000. The unique, typical English character of buildings, and the English culture, can be recognised throughout the city. Enjoy a cup of tea in the afternoon or the breath taking flowers in Butchart Garden. Many parks and gardens are nurtured in traditional British style. Surrounded by coastal rain forests and beaches, Victoria is also famous for the view to the well known Olympic Mountains in the state of Washington (USA). Victoria has one of the most balanced and mild climates in Canada. The winters are mild, with temperatures above zero. The summers are not too hot, because Victoria is situated on an island, and always receives a cool breeze from the sea. Apart from the great climate, Victoria offers many attractions to see and do: whale watchng, an active nightlife, many shopping centers, and lovely walkways through the old part of the city with its colourful houses, all the way down to the habour promenade.
There are many exhibitions and festivals to visit throughout the year: in February there is the biggest tea festival in Canada, between the end of February and April it's flowering time in Victoria, let yourself be carried away on the music from Mozarts Magic Flute, or enjoy the breath taking World Rose Festival, in June, the Queen of all the flowershows - with gardens, workshops, markets and much more... In winter you can take in the christmas atmosphere!
