Vancouver, is a jewel in the pacific, and with its 2.2 million inhabitants, is the third biggest city in Canada, and one of the most popular cities in the world. In Canada you will find Europeans, Asians, and the indigineous folk of Canada, all living together in a fascinating multi cultural atmosphere, in harmony. It has a unique location - on the pacific coast in the west, at the foot of the mountains in the north and next to Fraser Valley in the east. Vancouver belongs to British Columbia.
There are no other cities that combine the advantages of inner city living with so many outdoor sport facilities: an extensive bicycle network, beachvolleyball, kajaking, walk ways, indoor climbing facilities, and skiing facilities. It is well worth visiting Stanley Park, which is situated on the peninsula between the harbour and the ocean. A trip with the Gondel over the 'Grouse Mountain' is also very impressive. At the peak of the mountain you can witness a breath taking view of the city, surrounding bays and mountains.
Take in the atmosphere whilst sitting in a cosy cafe in the original part of the city 'Gastown', or go for a stroll down 'Robson Street' if you want to see and be seen. Enjoy the cosmopolitan flair, the local exhibitions, the mild climate and the unique scenery.
Celebrate the Chinese New Year in January, visit the 'TD Canada Trust Jazz Festival' in June or the Vancouver Folk Music Festival in July. Don't miss the Celebration of Light, a spectacular fireworks display in August, or the Vancouver International Film Festival, that shows 300 films from over 50 different countries in September... or take part in the Christmas Carol Ship Parade in December.
