The Schools
The Bicton College is situated in the county of Devon in south west England and was built in the early 18th century. This unique idyllic place in the middle of 210 hectares of public park offers students an opportunity to relax after their intensive language studies.
Everybody loves the park with its man-made lake and collection of indigenous and exotic plants which were lovingly brought together by the former owner, Lord Clinton. Andre Le Notre was the famous architect of this park, and he was also responsible for the design of the gardens of Versailles.
Accent International was ground in 1988 as an Advisory and Language Institute for foreign companies and, apart from top level language courses, also offers management training.
The Institute is small and personal , situated in the side wing of the college, and takes a maximum of 25 language students. In other parts of the building agricultural schools of the region are to be found. Nearby towns are East Budleigh (3 km), Sidmouth (8 km), Exmouth ( 9 km), and Exeter (19 km). The 9 classrooms are modern and equipped with video camera, overhead projector and CD player. In the lounge area guests can help themselves to coffee/tea, specialist magazines and learning material of every kind.

Most of our families live in wonderful houses and offer accomodation of the highest level with excellent food, pretty rooms and your own bathroom. We truly recommend this form of accomodation which allows you to take part in the daily life of the host family and gives you the opportunity to improve communicative language skills outside school hours. During the week, transfer to and from school from your place of stay is included. Breakfast and an evening meal from Monday to Saturday are taken with the host family ( lunch is taken with the teacher and is included in the price ) and there is full-board on Sunday.

Recreation
Bicton College lies in south-west England in the county of Devon. Being only approx. 15 mins. from the sea and surrounded by beautiful countryside it offers excellent opportunites to do all kinds of sport, for example golf, tennis, squash, riding, sailing , wind-surfing and swimming. The nearby town of Exeter is ideal for shopping and entertainment and also has cultural highlights such as St. Peter's Cathedral, the ruins of Rougemont Castle, the Guildhall ( the oldest public building in England which is still used today) and various churches of the Middle Ages e.g St Mary Steps with its clock tower.
The National Parks of Dartmoor and Exmoor are only 1,5 hours away and are ideal for hikers and horse-riders, and the slightly hilly countryside offers a challenge to experienced cyclists.
The attractive coastline with its picturesque seaside-towns - from lively Torquay to numerous sleepy fishing villages , where one has the feeling that time has stood still. The coastline to the east is rocky with many cliffs. To the west, however, there is the English Riviera with its palms and sandy beaches. The true Devon is particularly to be found inland : picturesque villages with white-washed cottages and thatched roofs, green hills, small fields with narrow lanes - an idyllic countryside.
Once a week Accent organizes for its students an evening entertainment and a whole-day trip.
