The School

The CERAN Center in Spa was the first of the CERAN schools and was founded in 1975. Famous for its highly intensive and successful educational concepts, the center concentrates on a variety of target groups. CERAN Spa specializes in adult education and has achieved major success with its one-of-a-kind teaching concept.
In addition to French, the school offers classes in English, Dutch, German and Japanese. Each language has its own dining area, to keep each language school separate, thus encouraging students to use the language they are learning, not to fall back into their mother-tongues.
The school grounds are located in a beautifully, romantic region, in the middle of a natural setting, which is approximately 10 minutes from the center of Spa. The school has three buildings dedicated to language training. French is the predominant language in the central building, the stylish "Chateau du Haut-Neubois".
In keeping with the intensive learning concept, the school has 80 newly renovated guest rooms, with private shower/WC and dining hall, for all meals on the school grounds.
Students can use the time when they are not in classes to either study or for free time activities. Guests of CERAN can use the squash court, the computer room or lounge. The expansive park, which surrounds the school is perfect for relaxing in the summer months.

Leisure time

Spa, with its 12'000 inhabitants is located in the midde of the beautiful countryside of the province of Liège near the German border. The hamlet is the cradle of modern of wellness. It is famous for its mineral water, as well as the spa, which is known throughout the world.
For over a century, Spa has been a renowned wellness center and was previously known as the Café Europas; where anyone who desired a first-class spa experience stopped. The first casino in the world was in Spa - and people can still gamble there today.
In the center of the town, there are large, magnificent buildings arranged like nowhere else; circles of streets, alleys and squares with wealthy businesses and villas and castles along the hilly streets.
However, the recession in the 1970's took its toll on Spa. Although the town's center, in the meantime, has been revitalized and restored, there are still broken facades here and there.
The list of sights to see in Spa include: the Spa thermal springs, the Gallery Leopold II, the Museum de la Ville d'Eaux, the casino, Poulon Pierre le Grand, and Notre Dame. Those who want to walk in the enchanting countryside on the weekends, should visit the Domaine de Berinzenne: people can hike through the high moors, directly from a part of the boardwalk. The highlight of the colorful market tour is the catherdral, where there is a magnificent view of the hinterland.
CERAN hosts gala evenings and activities outside of the school walls.
